Super Powers Lunch Box from Aladdin

superpowerslunchboxfeature

This is a Super Powers lunch box released in 1983 by Aladdin Industries. It features art of the big three DC Comics superheroes Superman, Batman, and Wonder Woman, plus Robin; there are no other heroes on the box, unlike the nice Super Friends lunch box from the 1970s. This lunch box features artwork by José Luis García-López, who was the main artist behind DC’s merchandising style guide of that period. It also came with an illustrated matching plastic thermos.

Much of DC’s licensing of the mid-1980s was sold under the Super Powers brand, led by Kenner’s highly collectible Super Powers action figure line.

  1. I still have my Super Powers lunchbox from childhood. As much as I love the work of Jose Luis Garcia Lopez (Praise Be His Name), I’ll admit I’ve grown a little numb to it over the years. But here, with the warm vibrant colors, it’s beauty still stands out. Our heroes at their zenith, in my opinion.
