A while ago, I posted a few Superman products from Clay Art, a company specializing in handpainted ceramic table-top and kitchenware. In 1998, Clay Art released a few nicely made Batman and Superman ceramic items, including this Superman bank. Standing about 8″ tall, its design, like the other products in the line, was influenced by the golden age style. The original box (not shown) features Joe Shuster artwork from the cover of Superman #6 along with several early Superman covers. The Superman sculpt, similar to that of the cookie jar, is really nice.
In addition to this bank, Clay Art made a cookie jar (seen previously right here), salt and pepper shakers, and a mug (seen here). While none of these Clay Art items are particularly rare or valuable, I’ve often thought that they are very underrated.
