Topps Superman The Movie Trading Card Color Key

Pictured below is a color key from the Topps Vault from card #2 of the first series of Superman The Movie trading cards released in 1978. In the old days before computers and inkjet printers made it very cheap and fast to generate proofs, printers used film separations to create a series of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black acetates called a color key which, when layed on top of one another, created a good approximation of what the finished color might look like after it is printed in four colors on a press.

In 2001, Topps began to auction original art and production materials like this proof from their archives under the Topps Vault brand through eBay.
