Pleasant surprise at Ross.
I was surprised to find these comic book cover plaques at Ross Dress For Less a few weeks ago for $9.99 each. I actually spotted the Superman #32 late last year in their frame and picture department along the back wall, but didn’t buy it figuring they’d be everywhere. Then, of course, they disappeared almost immediately, so I bought it on eBay.
About two or three months ago, I saw new covers showing up on eBay, and saw a thread on Reddit about how they were showing up at Ross again, so this time I checked the local Ross stores and found two additional Superman-related ones at the front of the store in the seasonal section: Superman #201 and Superman #1.
These prints are about 13″ wide by 19.25″ high, and they are mounted/laminated to cheap wooden plaques with a sawtooth hanger on the back. They all have a plain white label on the back with the copyright and trademark information for DC, the DC and Warner Bros. logos, and text that reads “Produced in 2011 (or 2012, in the case of the #201 plaque) under license by Silver Buffalo LLC, New York, NY / Made in China.”
Protip: In addition to the three Superman covers pictured above, Silver Buffalo released a number of additional Marvel and DC comic covers. The ones I’ve seen so far are Amazing Fantasy #15, X-men #97, Fantastic Four #167, Tales of Suspense #59, Wonder Woman #70, Detective Comics #387, and Batman #1.
